Independent Investigation Team (IIT) Committee

The purpose of the IIT Committee is to monitor, participate, evaluate, and advise on the developments and activities of Independent Investigations of officer-involved use of force incidents in Washington State, which will include:

  1. The status of the Independent Investigation Teams[1] responsible for investigating officer-involved use of force incidents in Washington State,
  2. The development of the Office of Independent Investigations (OII), their policies, procedures, and requirements,
  3. The rules and work products of the CJTC’s Law Enforcement Training and Community Safety Act (LETCSA),
  4. The progress and findings of the Office of the Washington State Auditor, Use of Deadly Force Investigations Audits, and
  5. Any other entity which influences decision-making regarding the processes and practices of Independent Investigations in Washington State.

 

The results of the Committee’s work will be shared with the WASPC membership and stakeholders at conferences or as needed, and in accordance with WASPC’s Mission Statement, To lead collaboration among law enforcement executives to enhance public safety.”
