Traffic Safety Grant Announcement – FY2025

Effective November 4, 2024, traffic safety grants are now available to law enforcement agencies. Applications must be submitted through WASPC’s online application form, accessible at the following link;

Only one application per agency will be accepted. If you are requesting multiple supplies, please submit a single application listing all items. Please refer to the list below for information on maximum award amounts per unit for specific traffic safety supplies. Agencies may also be eligible to purchase from the state contract. (Note: Tax and shipping can be included in the request, provided the total does not exceed the allowed amount per unit.)

  • Lidar: $3,000
  • Radars, including Rear Antenna: $2,300
  • Handheld Radars: $1,000
  • Field Sobriety Test (FST): $600
  • Scanner (SECTOR): $350
  • Printer (SECTOR): $450

Eligibility and Requirements

Agencies must demonstrate participation in statewide traffic initiatives or show a local focus on traffic safety. Applications must include a problem identification statement, outlining the issue and explaining how the requested items will help address it.

Preference may be given to agencies where traffic safety enforcement is identified as a high priority. Please note that requests to replace existing equipment will not be approved.

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: Friday, January 3, 2025
  • Review Process: the Traffic Safety Committee will evaluate Applications in February 2025.
  • Award Notices: Agencies will receive award notifications approximately two weeks after the committee meeting.

Only after receiving an approval letter may authorized supplies be purchased. The grant will only cover the approved grant amount; any costs beyond the awarded amount are the responsibility of the agency.
